Spring classic 1997

Well speedway season has started. It was nice to be back.
Some of the riders from last year are gone now
Donnie Odom, Jerry Black) maybe they will return , who knows.
Some riders that were gone are now back,(flyinn Mike Faria). 
In any event, It’s speedway.  
Fast Eddie Castro was sporting, GET THIS, A sponsor.
He had new leathers and the whole works.
John "the iceman" Aden was running his new laydown Jawa.
I think he is the only one. Bobby Hedden and Pat linn were down
from northern California.  I saw Pat "the rat Litt in the stands.
It was speedway. The track started the night as a mud hole.
Fortunately they ran the little midget cars first and they 
cleaned it up a bit. Then the racing began.

Semi #2 also brought out the first crash of the season.
After a great pass in turn two, John Aden went into 3 way to hot.
He then managed to park it in 4. This caused a major pileup.
Both Aden and Lucero were down for a while But Lucero managed
to return. Aden however was Dqed for causing the crash, and he
tore up his front end , ending his night.

A fantastic race for Pearce. He and McConnell  battled for the
entire race. Pearce showed some great controll by not folding
under McConnells constant pressure.
