For the second week in a row Andy Northrup captured the handicap main event at Costa Mesa Speedway. Northrup fought his way past Gary Hicks, Shawn McConnell, Brad Oxley, John Aden, Gary Ackoyd and Kit nay to claim the top prize. Charlie Venegas was qualified for the main but pulled off the track after being sent back 20 yards for a false start.
On the scratch side of the night Shawn McConnell led the way for Oxley, Aden, Bobby Schwartz and Venegas.
The track was very well prepared for Saturdays running of Orange County Harley Night. Many of the fans enjoyed watching the HOGS run around our little bull ring.
I hear rumor that next week, John Aden will be deputing his brand new custom built speedway sprint car. This car was hand built by Aden and is the only one currently out that is powered by a 500cc jawa motor, Just like the motor on the speedway bikes. Aden is building these cars in the hope of creating a racing circuit to run them. Come out next saturday and see how the Aden car compairs to the sprint cars currently running at Costa Mesa.
