The words of Gary Hicks shortly after winning the 2nd annual Jack Milne Cup at Costa mesa Speedway. Hicks who is the nephew of 1937 world champion Jack Milne took an emotional win over the hottest rider in town Scott Brant. The main event had to be restarted after Hicks, Andy Northrup and Charlie Venegas got tougher in turn four. Scott Brant had the lead on the first go-round but could not gate Hicks the second time. Brant tried every thing in his bag to get around but had to settle for 2nd place money.

The racing tonight was fast and close. 20 riders going for only ten transfer positions. The track was probably better than it has been in 3 weeks. for lack of a better explanation it was just a great night of racing. great track, great competition.

One rider who has been competing at Costa Mesa for a few years now and is on the verge of breaking out is Bakersfield"s Randy"THE ROCKET" DiFransesco. I have spoken of him over the past few weeks but really only about his shortened finger. Randy may not be the fastest guy on the track but their is no one who puts in more time and effort the the inter DiFransesco family. Randy's father helps in the pits while his brother Rob calls shots from the grandstands via walkie-talkie. It is very seldom that you will ever see Randy make a mistake on the track. If I had any criticism for Randy it would be to be more aggressive. Randy is a perfect gentleman on and off the track. Next time you are at the track, come by and see Randy after the races. I guarantee you will be welcome in his pit, on his bike and in his heart. Randy is the guy with the smiley face on his butt and a bigger smile on his face.
