The return of speedway after a week off was delayed by a demonstration in speedwaycross. Last week everyone got a week of for the holiday and while they were gone somthing terrible happened to the usually smooth Costa Mesa bullring. Holes started appearing in turn two and four after the first race. Then things just got worse. By the middle of the night they just became launching pads. If a rider hit them a little wrong...look out. Shawn McConnell did it and took out gary Hicks. In the last chance race Ryan Fisher did it and took out Andy Northrup.  Speaking of that, if you were there you saw the crash. Ryan got on one wheel just at the end of turn four. He carried it all the way down the straight. He then set his front tire in Andy's left ear. He tried to put his intire bike in Andy's ear but it just would not fit. The two went down in a heap of bouncing metal at full speed. After the crash Raz Video and Larry Huffman talked to Andy. He had some unkind words about Ryan that got many booo's. In Andy's defense, You need to see the big picture. Andy and the others have been here many years. They have learned alot while coming from the bottom. Many times this year Ryan has caused crashes by racing and being over aggressive. Andy just did a few hundred dollars damage to a bike caused by a fourth place rider on the last lap of a race. I think Andy's point is simply this. Ryan needs to do what ever it takes to ride more in control. He needs to be a little more patient. He does not need to win on the first or last lap. These bikes are much more powerful then the 250's he rode in the juniors. There are many weeks of racing left and Ryan should use them to learn and master his craft. His wins will come but don't force them.

If there was any advice I could give to Ryan it would be Slow down, relax, maybe even re-gear the bike to slow it down and learn as much a possible. these guys are fast and you will catch them. but please don't hurt them.

As far as the rest of the racing was concerned , it was a pretty good night. Brad Oxley battled with Scott Brant to take the scratch main and McConnel rode bar to bar with Oxley to capture the handicap main event.

If you only got one RAZ VIDEO this year this is the one to get. Allthe action, All the crashes all the interveiws. There is NEVER a bad seat on a RAZ VIDEO.
