SCHWARTZ IS PERFECT
Northern California riders are impressive
On a Southern California day that started out with rain,
Things could not have turned out brighter for Bobby Schwartz. He
finished first in all of his races saturday night and is now the
number one seed in the 97 national championship with 3 qualifiers left.
It was no easy task for Schwartz, He had to battle the likes of Schawn McConnell,
And Bart Bast to take the top spot. Another rider with a great night was 6 year
vet John Aden. "The Iceman" as he is known was clean thru all his
heats and thru his semi. In the main event, His 5th consecutive this season,
He met up with Schwartz. You know the outcome. Aden is now the second seed.
The bad news for the So. Cal riders, Jesse Finch looks like he will not compete
in any more qualifiers this season. He went down very hard in event 16
and prelim's are a fractured femur. Jesse was having a great year here at
Costa Mesa and it looks as though it has come to an end. Our thoughts and
prayers will be with you Jesse. Get back soon.
As for the Northurn Cal riders. My god. These guys are here and making it known.
I was never so impressed with the No Cal's. Bart Bast made the main event, only
dropping one point prior to the main. Louis Kossuth had a great night picking up 10 points
towards the nationals. He would have picked up many more if not for a motor problem
in his opening ride. After that he won his next to races.Bob Hicks picked up 15 points
and made the consi.Pat Linn made the consi and has 13 points. Bobby was Hedden was
the cause of a first round red flag and was asked to park in his first race. He followed
that with a second round win and third round runner up. He finished the night with
9 points. Anyone who thinks these No Cal's are not serious need to step back and look again.
It could look a lot different when the So. Cals' go up north to try to get points.
